2022 – 2023 – Nadine Gedeon

Born and raised in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Mrs. Gedeon obtained her first law degree from Université Quisqueya in Haiti. Mrs. Gedeon worked for the Haitian Red Cross for six years, where she developed  valuable leadership and managerial skills. She then went on to work as a legal officer at the Haitian Red Cross before she came to the United States.

Mrs. Gedeon earned a Master’s degree in Intercultural Human Rights from St. Thomas University School of Law, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in May 2012.  In May 2014, she earned her Juris Doctor degree from St. Thomas University School of Law, where she also graduated Magna Cum Laude.

Altanese Phenelus

2019 – 2020 – Altanese Phenelus

Altanese Phenelus is an Assistant County Attorney in the Miami-Dade County Attorney’s Office. Altanese has practiced in the Zoning, Land Use and Environmental Section as well as the Tort Liability and Medical Malpractice Section. During that time, she successfully argued two appeals before the Third District Court of Appeal, one concerning a constitutional challenge to Miami-Dade County’s environmental regulations, and the other involving issues of notice and sovereign immunity.

Altanese currently practices in the Aviation Division of the Miami-Dade County Attorney’s Office, where she litigates commercial and construction disputes and provides counsel on transportation matters

Judge Lody Jean was appointed to the Miami-Dade County Court on November 16, 2018 by Governor Rick Scott. She became the first Haitian-American woman to serve on the Miami-Dade County Court. Born and raised in Haiti to Lebanese parents, she attended college at the University of Miami where she double majored in Political Science and International Studies with a minor in Foreign Languages and obtained her Juris Doctor from St. Thomas University. Patricia Elizee is the managing partner of Elizee Law Firm, P.A., a firm dedicated to serving its clients and community. She earned her Juris Doctorate at the University of Miami School of Law, and graduated with honors. While in law school, Ms. Elizee volunteered as an intern and fellow at the University of Miami School of Law Health and Elder Clinic, where she represented low income clients in a variety of immigration, social security, and public benefit cases.
