Haitian Heritage Month is a celebration in the United States of Haitian heritage and culture. It was first celebrated in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1998.

It has grown across a number of states such as New York, Florida, D.C. and more, celebrated the whole month of May with a series of programs on Haitian history, culture, and contributions to the world.

This week’ Member of the Week is Stephanie Duche

This week’ Member of the Week is Stephanie Ducheine-Welsh.

Attorney Stephanie Ducheine-Welsh is a trial attorney who represents victims and families who have been injured as a result of another’s negligence. 100% of her practice is devoted to litigation cases involving automobile accidents, premises liability, medical malpractice, products liability and wrongful death among other areas of personal injury litigation. Ms. Ducheine- Welsh also represents property owners with claims involving insurance disputes.
Ms. Ducheine-Welsh is licensed to practice law in Florida and is also admitted to the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. She has been recognized by the Florida Bar for her pro bono efforts and was recently named in Legacy Magazine’s Top 40 Under 40. Jamy is an associate attorney at TRW Law, where he focuses his practice on Estate Planning, Probate, and general legal matters.

Jamy earned his JD from Barry University School of Law. During his time at Barry Law, Jamy had the privilege of serving on the editorial board of Barry’s Law Review as its Research and Technical Editor. Before joining the firm, Jamy handled estate planning, probate, commercial litigation matters, contract drafting, and foreclosure litigation. It is his hope to bring his expertise and knowledge in drafting and estate planning to the community he grew up with on the Treasure Coast.

Invites Community to Virtual Town Hall

Miami, Florida – As we near the end of the Derek Chauvin trial, the former Minneapolis police officer charged with killing George Floyd, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida will be hosting a District-Wide, Virtual Town Hall Discussion on Monday, April 19, 2021, starting at 6:00 p.m.

During the live-streamed, virtual conversation, participants will have the opportunity to engage the Acting U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, Juan Antonio Gonzalez, and various police and civic leaders about the social justice issues we currently confront. Acting U.S. Attorney Gonzalez encourages all members of the community to join the conversation.

“At this pivotal point for our country, it is important for the public to have a forum where they can ask questions and raise concerns, whether those are about the Chauvin trial and its possible outcomes or the path forward for policing and society.” said Acting U.S. Attorney Gonzalez. “The purpose of this Virtual Town Hall is to provide this forum and openly address these topics.”

Those who wish to join the April 19th Virtual Town Hall will have the opportunity to submit questions and comments during the discussion.
