Gueter Aurelien is of Haitian descent and former scholarship recipient of the Haitian Lawyer’s Association (“HLA”). Gueter graduated from University of Miami School of Law and is a corporate attorney with Venable LLP in Baltimore, Maryland. As a member of Venable’s Corporate Group, Gueter focuses on a wide range of corporate law matters, including corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions and specializes on Maryland corporate law as it relates to real estate investment trusts.
Gueter earned a bachelor’s degree from Columbia University where she majored in political science and a master’s degree in accounting from Florida Atlantic University. While in law school, Gueter was a member of the Psychology, Public Policy and Law Journal and a student attorney with the University of Miami Immigration Clinic where she represented clients and co-authored an amicus brief filed before the Florida Supreme Court.
She also contributed to advocacy efforts before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights. In addition to HLA’s support toward completing her legal education, Gueter was awarded with the University of Miami Dean’s Merit Award and the Minority Corporate Counsel Association Scholarship Award. Gueter was named in Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges and earned the Dean’s Certificate for Achievement in Immigration Clinic, Caribbean Law I and Professional Responsibility and the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Business Associations and Caribbean Law II. Gueter has devoted many years to developing community projects in Haiti and in Miami that have impacted the lives of many people, but Gueter’s most important role is being a proud mother of two daughters, Solange and Lioness.
