Happy Holidays and Happy New Year from my heart to yours! It has been a difficult year for many families throughout our country. In light of the recent tragedies and natural disasters that have plagued our community, I urge that we remember the importance of family and friends during this holiday season.
As you can see, HLA has been very busy and hard at work. I truly appreciate the support and involvement from the membership and the executive board. This year HLA has participated and sponsored a diverse series of events that foster political awareness, professional development and philanthropic initiatives including partnering with organizations such as Sant La and the Florida Immigrant Coalition. We have significantly increased our membership which allows our organization to develop additional resources that benefit our members as well as our organization as a whole. We have been contacted to co-sponsor numerous events with other bar organizations and will continue to develop relationships throughout the legal community and beyond.
I would like to congratulate all of our members for their accomplishments including: Dotie Joseph who was recently appointed City Attorney for North Miami Beach, Mayor Andre Pierre who was recently honored By HAPC and Legacy Magazine’s 40 under 40 recipients including Richard Champagne, Christopher Benjamin and myself, Stephanie Ducheine-Welsh. After a three year hiatus, we have committed to sponsoring our highly anticipated Scholarship Gala and need your support. February 9, 2013 is quickly approaching.
