In August 2012, former Chief Judge Joseph P. Farina of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court announced his retirement to join mediation and arbitration firm, JAMS. Judge Farina served as a Circuit Court Judge from September 1, 1981 until his retirement in 2012, and was Chief Judge from 1995 through 2009. Judge Farina was also the Mayor of Miami Shores from 1977 through 1979.

As a token of our appreciation for his significant contributions to the legal community and his dedication to public service, the Haitian Lawyers Association along with the Cuban American Bar Association and the Florida Association of Women Lawyers hosted a retirement reception in honor of Judge Farina on September 24, 2012 at the Bankers Club in downtown Miami.
